Interested, engaged and converted…

Contrary to what the title of this blog may imply, no, this isn’t a blog about dating… Funnily enough, it’s about marketing.

Did you know your brain decides that you don’t need a constant status update on your nose, so it just automatically removes it from your vision? If you don’t believe me, check out more information on here, or take note that you can’t see your nose right now unless you make an effort to focus on it!

Why am I telling you this? Well your brain not only blocks out your nose, but it also blocks out or loses interest in other things too… like marketing and advertising. So, how do you keep your target market engaged, interested and converting? Here are my 3 tips:

  1. Keep it fresh – placing an advert every week or month in a publication just ain’t going to cut it. Not only are you preaching to the same audience but after a while, just as your brain turns off to seeing your nose, they will stop noticing your adverts. My advice, if mass media is part of your marketing strategy, ensure you keep your imagery and content fresh and schedule your advertising intermittently so it doesn’t get ignored.
  2. Think outside the box – When you’re busy operating a business, thinking creatively can take more effort than you can sometimes care to handle. For a marketing campaign that catches the attention of your target market you need to think outside the box. It’s that simple.
  3. Don’t be afraid – We find businesses trawl the Internet watching what their competitors do, and in turn, copying their marketing. This approach puts you are one step behind and isn’t nearly as innovative, captivating or creative as what could be done (see point 2). Don’t be afraid to be different, you never know where the road less travelled may take you!

Keep it fresh, think outside the box, and don’t be afraid… don’t let your target market miss your marketing!
